Many people don’t realize that the price of laptop computers have come down so much in the last few years, that they are actually quite affordable now. When they were just starting to gain in popularity, you generally had to pay considerably more for a computer that would not perform as well as a standard desktop computer. Now, you can often get nearly the same specs for the same price in a laptop or a desktop version. This means that many people can now experience the benefits of having a laptop computer.
The main benefit is the ability to take it anywhere. Most laptop computers now have integrated wifi internet capabilities. This means that you can log on the internet anywhere that offers an open wifi connection. I enjoy taking my computer to school where I can work on my homework between classes or in the library with resources available to me. Also, I can take my computer to the local coffee shop or my favorite breakfast place and read news stories or play games while I wait.
The at-home portability is very nice too. I am not stuck doing all of my work at a desk in the office, I can work in front of the television, on the front porch while my daughter plays outside or snuggled under the covers on a cold winter’s night.
A laptop computer can be a great investment for the family. It can be used as a portable DVD player when traveling to keep the kids busy in the car, and then when you get to your destination mom and dad can get online and check in with work or check out sports scores. Teenagers will love being able to sign in to their social networks or play video games online if they need a break from “family time.”
